Teeth Whitening

Teeth bleaching, or whitening, is a procedure that removes stains and discoloration from teeth.

Discoloration can be the result of a combination of dental elements, including:

Your Genetics

Your genetics play a role in the natural color of your teeth.

Poor Oral Hygiene

Poor oral hygiene can lead to staining, plaque / tartar build up, and other discoloring agents.

Accidents

Accidents can impact the color of your teeth.

Medications

Certain medications, especially antibiotics, can impact tooth enamel appearance.

Effects of Aging

As we age the natural color of tooth enamel can change.

Smoking

 Smoking can stain teeth.

Food / Drinks

Certain foods are most commonly to blame, including coffee, tea, dark sodas, and wine.

Treatment options:

The first step for whitening is completing a comprehensive dental exam, as cavities and other dental issues must be repaired before tooth whitening takes place. If there are no cavities, treatment can proceed, and it is fast, simple, and comfortable.

For bleaching, we offer a take-home whitening set that includes custom made trays and individual whitening gel kits so you can bleach from the comfort of your own home.

For this procedure we take impressions of your teeth to create the custom mouth guard whitening trays. You simply place a few dabs of whitening gel in the tray and place it in your mouth for a period of time. Then you simply remove the tray, clean it, rinse your mouth and teeth, and repeat the following day (usually twice a day for 30 minutes to 2 hours for a 2 to 4 week period). Your dentist or dental assistant can provide more information regarding this process. The take-home kit offers convenience and ease of use.
